Coined a “poor little rich girl”, Edie Sedgwick is the heart of my inspiration.
An American heiress and face of 1960’s rebel, you could say she led the New York Underground. I am not inspired by her celebrity, but rather her overlooked image and accomplishments. Although tragedy and instability cut her her life short, her image prevails and I don’t sense it fading anytime soon.
She is the “culmination of cultures”, a mix of old and new. She was eclectic and youthful to the very last minute. It’s said that Edie was the “unofficial harbinger of hipster”,
which I feel is an accurate depiction of her eternal success.
I hope to inspire you as Edie has inspired me. My posts are up to interpretation and welcome feedback.
Edie was not perfect, and neither are we. If there is one thing that every single one of us can achieve in a lifetime, it is to express ourselves in an onlooking society. We have all been granted the gift of communication and it is up to us to use it.
I’m submitting myself through fashion.
